The Kano Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has at its Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, elected new officers to run its affairs for the next two years.
In the election, which took place at the Conference Hall of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano Malam Abubakar Usman Gotomo, Managing Consultant of Direct Contact Communications Limited, was re-elected as Chairman and Malam Usman Usman of Freedom Radio, was elected Vice Chairman.
The outcome of the elections also ushered in Alhaji Aliyu Haliru Abdullahi, General Manager API as Secretary; Malam Aminu Hamza of Unity Bank, Assistant Secretary and Maigari Garba Indabawa of Bayero University, as Treasurer.
Other elected officers include Hajiya Hauwa Anbdullahi Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital who was elected as the Financial Secretary of the Chapter, while Hajiya Aisha Lami Muhammad of KNARDA retained her position as the Public Relations Executive.
The election was supervised by the National Council member of the Institute in charge of Kano Zone, Malam Aminu Inuwa, who is also the Chief Public Relations Officer of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
In his post election speech, Malam Abubakar Gotomo thanks the members of the Kano chapter for the confidence they have in his leadership, which informed their decision to give him another mandate to manage the affairs of the Chapter.
He also enjoyed them to continue playing active roles in the activities of the chapter to improve their professional capacity and make public Relations a leading profession in the country.
In his remark the first chairman of Kano chapter and Fellow of the Institute, Prince Ajayi Maimeyatan, while calling on the members to support the new EXCO to succeed, he also urged them to strictly observe NIPR code of professional ethics in their practice of Public Relations.
