NIPR Abuja Concludes Seminar in Jos

The Nigeria Institution of public Relations Capital Chapter, Abuja in collaboration with IONEL consulting Nigeria on Thursday 16th October, 2008 concluded a 5-day training seminar titled Public Affairs Management for Public Service Efficiency.

The seminar which took place at the National Institution for policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) kuru, Jos Plateau State, attracted participants from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abuja Metropolitan Area Council (AMAC) , kuje Area Council, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).National Assembly Service Commission , office of the Senate President of Federal Republic of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Benue State Local Government Service commission and Federal Capital Territory Administration,FCTA.

Speaking at the opening ceremony the chairman of NIPR capital Chapter, Abuja, Mallam Abubakar Bello Abdullahi, said the seminar was the first to be organized by the NIPR, Abuja Chapter and it was part of the chapter’s effort to reposition and rebrand.

Mallam Abdullahi added that the seminar was meant to improve and update the skill of Public Affairs / Relations Managers to enable them deal with day to day duties.

More importantly, he said, the seminar would examine the roles of Public Affairs Managers in the realization of the vision 20 /20, the 7-point Agenda as well as the other attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s).

The participants were held spellbound by such resource persons as Dr. Lola Akande of the University of Ibadan, Mr. Alaba Yusuf of Noble People Consulting, Mr.Ben Ahiante, an NIPR fellow and member of the Governing Council and National of the Institution, Mr. Hycient Ugorji of IMT ,Enugu, Mr. Peter Oyeneye, Fellow and member of the governing council and 

National Training Coordinator of NIPR as well as Mr. Joe Itah, former chairman of NIPR, Abuja and Elder Emma Okoro.
